Amazing! It gave me a chance to learn more about what people in different parts of the world are working on when it comes to single use plastic waste and sustainability in the apparel industry. The workshop gave me the confidence and sparked a desire in me to create my own studio to communicate the value of responsible design and innovation. These underlying factors are what the studio offers, through art direction, design thinking and experience design. Having a more holistic understanding of systems thinking, sustainable design and the circular economy. I am able to tackle diverse problem areas effectively.

Emma’s experience with the fashion industry was amazing. Apart from the methodology I had two tangible outputs: I created a new course I will start teaching next semester at Pacifico Business School, which is called Textile Innovation and Sustainability, and I created Artextile, a sustainable textile organization in Peru which offers spaces and experiences for people to create change and have fun at the same time. Finding a community of people who are interested in sustainability and mixing it with design and innovation methodologies is the inspiration I needed to move forward. Priceless.

As a writer, I gained essential insight on how to frame issues I’m writing about in the fields of medical technology and resource extraction. As a teacher, I took away dynamic methods for both exploding problems and refining potential paths for creative research and revisioning - the types of tools that will empower my students to discover what they have to bring to this global conversation. This training encouraged me to pursue this line of research, gave me a different set of tools for approaching its possibilities, and empowered me as a write to push where policy change might make the most difference.
