Amazing! It gave me a chance to learn more about what people in different parts of the world are working on when it comes to single use plastic waste and sustainability in the apparel industry. The workshop gave me the confidence and sparked a desire in me to create my own studio to communicate the value of responsible design and innovation. These underlying factors are what the studio offers, through art direction, design thinking and experience design. Having a more holistic understanding of systems thinking, sustainable design and the circular economy. I am able to tackle diverse problem areas effectively.

I work around the world in beautifully diverse countries, cultures and contexts with all their associated histories. It is important to me to understand and learn about the legacies of these places and people who have come before, both as part of my work professionally as well as personally. Knowing the stories of the land I’m on helps me gain a deeper understanding of people and place, and is a never-ending learning experience.

I now live on an island known as Montréal. It is the traditional, ancestral and unceded land of the First Nations, dating back by at least 5,000 years, and probably longer. The word Montréal is thought to be derived from the French name for the mountain (Mont Royal) on the island. However, for much longer, it has been known as Tiohtià:ke, meaning “where the boats and rivers meet” in Kanien’kéha, and Mooniyang (ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ) in Anishinaabemowin, and is home to around 35,000 people who identify as Indigenous.
